What challenges will you tackle?

  • Teach the course based on the society’s course description
  • Ensure the group’s safety at all times
  • Observe participants and provide feedback and corrections as needed
  • Evaluate participants for the certification exam
  • Supervise participants to ensure they respect the rules in effect and help them if they are having a hard time
  • Ensure the equipment required for the course is in proper working order and in good condition
  • Fill in all the documents required by the Lifesaving Society to issue certification to participants
  • Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures regarding the protection of children and vulnerable people
  • Understand and integrate philanthropic values into your role and the Association, and attend annual fundraising campaigns and Foundation events

Who we are looking for?

To execute their mandate, the Lifeguard instructor must:

  • Hold a high school diploma (HSD)
  • Have the certifications required by the Lifesaving Society (according to the type of course taught)
  • Have the CPR/AED certification
  • Be a lifesaving instructor or trainer
  • Be punctual, responsible, motivated, and cheerful
  • Have no criminal record in connection with employment
